Insulation Replacement and Animal Contamination Cleanup

Greater Birmingham, Alabama

The nozzle of an insulation installation machine blowing replacement insulation into the attic of a house.

When animals get into your home, they tend to make a mess. You'd think that in return for living rent-free, they'd at least keep the place clean. But they don't.

Any animal problem in a home, whether it's in an attic, crawl space, wall or ceiling void, or anywhere else, is going to result in contamination. Animals' urine, droppings, and parasites may be involved in the transmission of serious diseases; and their shed hair, fur, and skin cells can cause allergic reactions in many people.

All of these contaminants can make their way into a home's living spaces by riding along on the air currents caused by convection, or even more quickly if you have a forced-air heating system or an air-conditioning system in the contaminated area. In that case, you will literally be pumping animal filth, along with the associated fungus spores and other pathogens, throughout your whole house.

At Rid-A-Critter, we clean up after the animals once we remove them. But some things, like insulation, can't be cleaned. Insulation has to be replaced. That's why we offer insulation replacement, using the finest modern insulating materials, as part of our wildlife management solutions.

Improved Energy Efficiency

In addition to eliminating contaminants and helping to make your home clean and fresh-smelling again, it's likely that our insulation replacement service will also save you money on energy. Here's why.

Missing insulation where raccoons pulled it away from the walls

First of all, animals don't just contaminate insulation. They damage it. They make nests out of it, they tear holes in it, they walk back and forth on it and flatten it (which reduces its insulating efficiency), and sometimes they just tear it from where it needs to be and roll it into balls. Why? Who knows. Maybe they're bored.

What we do know is that all of this messing with your insulation costs you energy dollars. Obviously, insulation that's no longer there because it's been pulled from a wall or roof isn't doing you any good. In addition, the burrowing animals do through insulation and the flattening effect of walking back and forth on it reduces its efficiency, and the clawing and gnawing that many animals do can damage the vapor barrier, if one is needed.

Secondly, unless your home was built very recently, chances are that the insulating materials we'll use are more efficient than what was in your home to begin with. In addition, Rid-A-Critter is able to install any type of insulation, as is best suited for your particular home, even if it's not the same insulation that was originally installed. Again, the last few years have seen great improvements in the R-values of insulating materials, and more efficient insulation means lower heating and cooling costs.

Finally, in some cases, we come across homes (especially those with no access to the attic) where the attic was never insulated to begin with, or where the job was done with shoddy craftsmanship. Adding proper insulation will make these homes more energy efficient and save their owners money.

Why Choose Rid-A-Critter to Replace Your Insulation?

The best reasons are that we're good at it, and that we'll probably save you money.

Insulation being blown into an attic looks like snow

Looks like snow in Birmingham! But it's just our crew installing high-efficiency attic insulation.

Our technicians are held to the highest professional standards in all the work they do, including installing insulation. All work is performed to the highest professional standards, and meets or exceeds any code requirements. We use only the finest materials, and we install it with the same sense of pride that's made us the South's most successful family-owned wildlife management company.

In addition, we are fully licensed and insured for this work, and our technicians are thoroughly trained in the best practices for insulation installation. We also have the equipment to handle any insulation job, no matter how big, how small, or how difficult. And we also cart the dirty stuff away for you and dispose of it responsibly, in keeping with our commitment to the environment.

Finally, our pricing will be competitive because, well, we're already there at your home. We've removeed the animals, cleaned up after them, and sealed up the house; so we already know every nook and cranny of the attic, crawl space, or other area where the animals were. This intimate familiarity with your home helps us to do the job better, while avoiding waste; and we pass the savings on to you.
